Dr. Verba is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing in Madison since 1991. She sees adults with a wide array of life issues. Her areas of interest and practice include relationship improvement, self-esteem enhancement, mood regulation, stress management and nurturing spirituality. She is experienced in working with issues of child development, parenting skills, transitions, emerging adulthood (20’s) and challenges of blended families. Dr. Verba's approach combines developmental insight into underlying issues with empathic understanding and practical advice. She focuses on changing patterns/perceptions of the past while fostering positive growth in the present. Dr. Verba works collaboratively with clients to reduce symptoms, strengthen coping skills, build resilience and maximize life satisfaction. She primarily uses interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, attachment, and mindfulness-based therapy techniques. In addition, Dr. Verba has extensive training and experience providing grief therapy and compassionate support to individuals and families who have suffered the death of a loved one.
Dr. Verba received her undergraduate degree (BSSW) from Ohio State University and her masters (MS) and doctorate (PhD) degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. She specialized in child/adolescent treatment at Bingham Child Guidance Center at the Dept. of Psychiatry, University of Louisville where she interned in partial hospitalization, inpatient, and hospital consult/liaison settings. She is a resident supervisor for the UW Department of Psychiatry and also served as consulting supervisor to the HospiceCare Grief Center for 12 years. She has been in private practice for over 20 years.
