Jenny Hayes works primarily with children and adolescents (3+). She is experienced working with acute and chronic childhood trauma (sexual and physical abuse, neglect, domestic violence, etc.). She also addresses anxiety, defiant behavior, depression, family change, grief, life transitions, and peer discord. Jenny's work with adults focuses upon the use of yoga as an adjunct to traditional trauma treatment. Treatment techniques include Somatic Experiencing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), CBT, Behavioral Activation, Art and Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Discipline techniques for caregivers, and Yoga.
Jenny's therapeutic practice rests within a strong mind-body centered orientation. She infuses sessions with current brain based research and practices, offering both mind and body opportunities to grow resiliency, stability, and flexibility.
Jenny is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance. She is also a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher (TSY) training directly under Bessel van der Kolk and David Emerson. She incorporates TSY in her work with child and adolescent trauma survivors.
Jenny's training in the use of Somatic Experiencing and Yoga in regulating autonomic nervous system functioning and heart rate variability informs her clinical practice addressing anxiety, depression, insomnia, trauma recovery, etc.
Jenny Hayes received her education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Psychology (BS) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Social Work (MSW). She has extensive post-graduate training in treating early childhood trauma as well as the use of yoga as an adjunct treatment for chronic trauma. Jenny received her 200 hour yoga teacher training through Alignment Yoga in Madison, WI.
