Dr. Ron May sees adolescents (13+) and adults in individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy. Dr. May has over 30 years of experience as a licensed psychologist providing assessment and treatment services to a wide range of clientele. He primarily employs interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches. Dr. May has specialized training and experience with men's issues, including relationship issues, job stress, anger management, fathering, and sexual concerns.

Assessment/Evaluations

Dr. May is an AAFT Trained Evaluator with over 35 years of experience in conducting vocational, cognitive, and personality assessments. His career assessments help clients to explore interests, values, abilities, and personality characteristics to set career objectives and generate viable career options. He conducts assessments of learning problems to determine specific learning disabilities, attention deficits, and other learning problems. He also provides assessments for child custody, fitness for duty, child abuse and neglect, and juvenile court evaluations.

Special Programs/Groups

Dr. May has a men's therapy group* which consists of small groups of men working together to provide the balance of challenge and support necessary for achieving change in their lives. Education

Dr. May received his education at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in Psychology (BS), the University of Missouri - Columbia in Counseling Psychology (MEd, APA full accreditation), Michigan State University in Counseling Psychology (PhD, APA full accreditation), and post-doctoral training with Dr. Virginia Satir. He is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and the Certificate in Professional Qualification in Psychology. Dr. May has been published numerous times, presented seminars at state and national conferences, served on several editorial boards for psychological journals, and has taught The Psychology of Men and Masculinity course at the University of Wisconsin - Madison for 17 years.
