Sarah Romens (she, her, hers) is a licensed psychologist who works with adults and adolescents (16+) in individual and group therapy. She has expertise using empirically supported approaches to treat a wide range of issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, obsessions and compulsions, and eating disorders. She also helps people manage intense emotions, life transitions, sexual and gender minority issues, and stress more effectively. She has extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for obsessive-compulsive disorder and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for behavioral and emotional dysregulation (including self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideation). She strives to practice acceptance and nonjudgment of clients as they are while also collaboratively working with clients on growth and change.

Special Programs/Groups

Dr. Romens conducts psychological evaluations for adolescents (16+) and adults, including presurgical evaluations for gender affirming surgery, ADHD and learning disability evaluations, independent medical evaluations, and psychological assessments to determine fitness for duty.

Education

Dr. Romens received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her Master of Arts and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh.
